Front Exhaust Pipe With Catalytic Converter
Removing
-- Remove the air filter housing, refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING .
-- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector -arrow- and free up the wire.
-- From above, remove the front exhaust pipe to turbocharger nuts -arrows-.
With All Wheel Drive (AWD)
-- Disconnect the driveshaft from the bevel box and secure it to the right, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Continuation for All
-- Remove the nuts accessible from below for the front exhaust pipe to turbocharger.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and slightly pull the vehicle floor cover downward.
-- Disconnect the electrical connector -arrow- on the right side of the underbody.
-- Remove the electrical connector out of the bracket and free up the electrical wire to the oxygen sensor.
-- Remove the exhaust system suspended mount bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the front tunnel brace nuts -arrows- and brace.
Danger of causing damage to the coupling elements.
- Do not bend coupling element in front exhaust pipe more than 10°.
-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -1- and push it rearward.
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Coat the turbocharger stud bolts with Hot Bolt Paste G 052 112 A3.
- Replace the gaskets and self-locking nuts.
- Install the exhaust system free of stress, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, ALIGNING .
