Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module -J527- With KESSY

The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module includes the following components and cannot be disassembled:

WARNING:

Before working on electronic system and removing the steering wheel the following conditions must be met:

  • The technician must discharge static electricity. This is accomplished by touching grounded metal like, for example, water pipes, heating pipes, metal carriers or a heater pipe, refer to ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS .

If this note is ignored it can result in failure of the control modules during later operation.

If this note is ignored, it can result in failure of the airbag system during later operation.

CAUTION:

If the steering gear universal joint is separated or the Steering Angle Sensor -G85- is removed, the following work must not be performed:

  • Battery, Connecting
  • Turn on the ignition
  • Turning the steering gear.
  • Turning the steering column.

These points must be followed otherwise, it can lead to irreparable damage.

NOTE:

Remove the transportation safeguard before installing a new Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module.

After installing a new Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module, it must be coded, refer to Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module -J527-, WITH KESSY, CODING .

If steering column switch malfunctions occur, the coding of the Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module must be checked, refer to Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module -J527-, WITH KESSY, CODING .

The procedure for removing and installing the Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module differs between the two manufacturers.
