Determining The Shim
The specified bearing pre-load is obtained by adding a constant pre-load figure of 0.35 mm to the reading obtained.
Example:
| Measured value | 1.50 mm |
| + Preload (constant value) | 0.35 mm |
| Shim thickness = | 1.85 mm |
-- Remove clutch housing and press out tapered roller bearing inner race -A-.
B - Internal Puller 46 to 58 mm, for example, Puller - Kukko Internal - 46-56mm :21/7
-- Allocate adjustment shim(s) using the parts information.
Tolerance variations make it possible to find the exact shim thickness required.
If the measured washer thickness is greater than that listed in the parts information, two washers that correspond to the measured value can be installed.
-- Insert the shim (1.85 mm in example) and press tapered outer race/tapered roller bearing into the clutch housing again.
-- Position clutch housing and tighten bolts to the tightening specification.
