Clutch Slave Cylinder, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

Before replacing the clutch master cylinder due to an assumed defect, perform the Guided Fault Finding Vehicle Diagnostic Tester first.

If the clutch slave cylinder is removed from the transmission with hose/line assembly connector, do not operate (depress) clutch pedal any more. Otherwise, the pistons are pushed out of the clutch slave cylinder and thus damaged.

-- Determine whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain the anti-theft code.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY .

-- Remove the air filter housing if it is located over the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER (CNLA, CRJA) , AIR FILTER (CZCA, CZDA, CZTA) , AIR FILTER (CBPA, CKJA) and AIR FILTER (CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA) .

-- Remove the relay lever -B- together with the cable retainer from the transmission. Refer to the figure below;

-- Remove the nut -arrow 4- and then remove the transmission shift lever -A-.

-- Remove the cable mounting bracket from the transmission -arrows-.

-- Tie up the shift cable and the selector cable.

-- Place a lint-free cloth under the clutch slave cylinder.

-- Remove the clip -A- for the hose/line assembly of the plastic hose all the way from the clutch slave cylinder.

-- Pull the hose/line assembly or plastic hose from the mount -C-.

-- Remove the hose/line assembly or plastic hose -B- from the clutch slave cylinder and seal off the opening.

-- Remove the clutch slave cylinder -arrows-.

CAUTION:

Do not press the clutch pedal anymore.
