Oil Pan, Removing And Installing: Installing: Notes

CAUTION:

Risk of contaminating the lubricating system and the bearing.

  • Cover open engine components.
WARNING:

Wear safety gloves and protective eyewear when working with sealant and grease remover.

-- Remove the sealant residue on the cylinder block and the oil pan with a commercially available chemical sealant remover.

-- The sealing surfaces must be free of oil and grease.

NOTE:

Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (tube nozzle diameter: approximately 2 to 3 mm).

CAUTION:

There is a risk that the lubrication system could be blocked by excess sealant.

  • Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

If the Belt Pulley Side Sealing Flange Is Not Replaced.

NOTE:

After removing the old silicone seal for the cylinder block surface, the lower sealing flange surface on the pulley side has an approximately 1 mm offset that must be evened out onto the corresponding area of the oil pan sealing surface using the necessary sealant application.

-- Apply bead of sealant as shown to the clean sealing surface on the oil pan.

NOTE:

The oil pan must be installed within five minutes of applying the sealant.

If the Belt Pulley Side Sealing Flange Is Replaced.

-- Apply bead of sealant as shown to the clean sealing surface on the oil pan.

NOTE:

Apply the sealant bead very carefully in the area of the sealing flange.

The oil pan must be installed within five minutes of applying the sealant.
