Safety Precautions When Working On SCR System: Notes

Observe the following when working on the SCR system: 

WARNING:

The reducing agent can cause skin irritation:

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes! Wear gloves!
  • If the reducing agent contacts the skin, wash it off immediately with soap and water.
  • If the reducing agent gets in the eye (s), flush the eye (s) for several minutes with water.
  • Never inhale or swallow the reducing agent!
  • If any reducing agent is swallowed, rinse out mouth, drink plenty of water and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Make sure the reducing agent does not contact any clothing or the vehicle body.
  • If this occurs, wash immediately with clean water and then dry with a lint-free cotton cloth.
  • If the reducing agent has already crystallized, use warm water and a sponge.
  • Reducing agent that is not removed will crystallize and can damage the affected surface after a period of time.
