Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance: Procedure

-- Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the :VAS6079  on the camshaft housing with the :VW387  as shown.

-- Press the camshaft against the dial gauge by hand.

-- Set the dial gauge to "0".

-- Push the camshaft off the dial gauge and read the value:

Axial Clearance: 

• Wear limit: 0.25 mm.
