Intake Camshaft Adjuster, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Place a cleaning cloth under the camshaft adjuster and the tensioning roller to catch escaping engine oil.

-- The contact points for the toothed belt, as on the camshaft sprocket, crankshaft toothed belt sprockets, tensioning roller and the idler roller must be kept free of oil.

-- Position the engine in the "TDC position for cylinder 1". Refer to VALVE TIMING, CHECKING .

-- Remove the toothed belt from the camshafts. Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .

Installing the :T10554

• The distance between the pins -1 and 2- from the :T10554  varies.
• The :T10554  can only be inserted in one position.

-- Place the :T10554  with :T10172A  flat on the camshaft adjuster -1- as shown.

-- The pins must be inserted correctly in the holes -arrows-.

-- Secure the camshafts from turning using the :T10554  and :T10172A  .

-- Remove the plug -1- on the intake camshaft adjuster.

-- To loosen the bolt -1- from the camshaft adjuster, install the :T10554  with :T10172  again.

-- Loosen the bolt -1- from the camshaft adjuster -2-.

-- Loosen the bolt from the exhaust camshaft adjuster. Refer to EXHAUST CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolt -1- for the camshaft adjuster and then remove the camshaft adjuster -2-.
