Coolant Pipes, Removing And Installing: Removing

CAUTION:

The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

Scalding the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Reduce the pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening it.

-- Carefully open the cap -1- on the coolant expansion tank -2- in the direction of -arrow-.

-- Clamp off the coolant hoses at the coolant pipe with the :3094  .

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses.

-- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the intake manifold -1- on the workbench as shown.

-- Slide a support such as a wooden block -2- under the intake manifold.

NOTE:

This procedure must be done very carefully to avoid damaging the intake manifold and the coolant pipe.

-- Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the opening -arrow 1-.

-- Carefully push the screwdriver in the direction of -arrow 2- and at the same time lift the coolant pipe -4- in the direction of -arrow 3- until it is loosened from its retainer.

-- Continue to lift the coolant pipe -1- in the direction of -arrow- until it detaches from its retainer -2-.
