Input Shaft Seal

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

-- Remove the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING

-- Remove the clutch slave cylinder with release bearing. Refer to CLUTCH RELEASE MECHANISM OVERVIEW .

-- Pry out the input shaft seal using the pulling hook T20143/1.

NOTE:

Be careful not to damage the contact surface for the shaft seal on the input shaft.

-- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips -arrow- half way with sealing grease for seal G 052 128 A1.

-- Lightly coat the outer circumference of the seal with gear oil.

-- Drive in the seal using the thrust piece T10233 until it is flush.

-- Install the clutch slave cylinder with release bearing. Refer to CLUTCH RELEASE MECHANISM OVERVIEW .

-- Install the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, INSTALLING .
