Clutch Pedal: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

-- Move the driver seat all the way back and raise the steering wheel to the highest position.

-- Remove the storage compartment and cover on the driver side. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the footwell vent -1-. Refer to Removal and Installation .

The footwell vent may look different than what is shown in the illustration.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the impact bolster support -1-.

-- Remove the fuse panel under the instrument panel on the left side and move it to the side. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the relay panel under the instrument panel on the left side and move it to the side. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the retainers -arrows- and the footwell trim panel.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and the universal joint -2- from the steering gear.

Remove the sound absorber -arrow- from above the bracket/clutch pedal, if equipped.

-- Remove the retainers -A-.

-- Remove the sound absorber.

-- Push the sound absorber near the upper nut -1- above the clutch pedal -A- in the -direction of the arrow-.

-- Remove the nut -2- and the bolt -5- and then remove the clutch pedal -1- from the bracket -3-.

-- Move the clutch pedal forward and remove the over-center spring -4-.

-- Release clutch pedal from master cylinder using the pliers T10005.

-- Remove the clutch pedal.

Installing 

NOTE:

Replace the self-locking nuts.

-- Install the mount -2- onto the clutch master cylinder actuator rod -1-.

-- Press the mount in until it engages audibly in the notch on the clutch pedal -3-.

-- Install the over-center spring into the bracket from the top.

-- The mounting area -arrow- for the clutch pedal pivot pin -A- must be positioned vertically.

-- Insert the clutch pedal pivot pin into the mount in the over-center spring.

-- Press the clutch pedal slightly, push the bolt through and tighten the self-locking nut.

Some vehicles have a sound absorber -arrow- over the bracket/clutch pedal.

-- Bring the sound absorber back into the installed position.

-- Install the impact bolster support -1- and tighten the bolt -2- to specification. Refer to CLUTCH PEDAL .

-- Mount the universal joint -2- on the steering gear and install the new bolt -1-. Refer to Special Tools .

-- Perform a basic setting on the steering angle sensor -G85- using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.

-- Install the trim and the cover on the driver side. Refer to Removal and Installation .
