Charge Air Regulation Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213

Test Conditions:

The hose between the turbocharger, the wastegate bypass regulator valve -N75- and the vacuum diaphragm must not be kinked.
The wastegate bypass regulator valve is OK.

Test Sequence:

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .

-- Connect the hand vacuum pump VAS 6213 to the vacuum diaphragm -arrow-.

-- Set the slide ring -1- on the hand vacuum pump VAS 6213 to position -B- for "pressure".

CAUTION:

The pressure must not exceed 750 mbar. If the pressure is exceeded, the vacuum diaphragm can be damaged.

-- Operate the hand vacuum pump VAS 6213 several times and observe the rods:

The linkage -A- must move approximately 300 mbar and be at approximately 700 mbar at the end position.

Actuator lift is approximately 10 mm.

If the pressure cannot be built up with the hand vacuum pump VAS 6213 or pressure falls again immediately:

-- Check the hand vacuum pump VAS 6213 and the connecting hoses for leaks.

If no malfunction can be found:

-- Replace the vacuum diaphragm. Refer to CHARGE AIR REGULATION VACUUM DIAPHRAGM .
