Fuel Tank Assembly Overview

NOTE:

Hose connections are secured with either spring-type or clamp-type clips.

Always replace clamp-type clips with spring-type clips.

Pliers for spring clamps VAS 5024A or hose clamp pliers V.A.G 1921 are recommended for installing spring clamps.

  1. Cap 
  2. 1.5 Nm 
  3. Ground connection 
    • Ensure seated tightly
  4. 10 Nm 
  5. Wiring router 
  6. Fuel Tank 
  7. 25 Nm 
    • Replace
  8. Lock washer 
  9. Securing strap 
    • Note installation position
  10. Heat shield 
    • For fuel tank
  11. Seal 
    • Replace
    • To install, lubricate with fuel
  12. Fuel delivery unit 
  13. Locking ring, 110 Nm 
    • Use wrench T10202 to remove and install
  14. Supply line 
    • To fuel filter, see "Supply line" in item:  1.
    • Clipped in at fuel tank
    • Ensure seated tightly
    • Black
    • To disconnect, press release button on connection piece
  15. Return line 
    • From fuel cooler
    • Blue or with blue marking
    • Clipped in at fuel tank
    • Ensure seated tightly
    • To disconnect, press release button on connection piece
  16. Tank flap unit

Tab -2- on fuel delivery unit must lie between tabs -1- and -3-.

NOTE:

-Arrow- points in direction of travel.

Fuel delivery unit can only be installed in this position.
