Engine Control Module Without Anti-Theft Immobilizer

NOTE:

If it is desired to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM), connect vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051B and perform the guided function "Replace Control Module".

Removing

-- Switch off ignition.

-- Remove wiper arms and plenum chamber cover, refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS .

-- Remove plenum chamber bulkhead, refer to Description and Operation .

-- Disengage forward harness connector -1- from Engine Control Module (ECM) and disconnect it.

-- Pry up locking mechanism -2- slightly.

-- Then slide Engine Control Module (ECM) out of retainer -arrow-.

-- Now disengage rear harness connector from Engine Control Module (ECM) and disconnect it.

Installing

-- Connect rear harness connector to Engine Control Module (ECM) and engage it.

-- Slide Engine Control Module (ECM) on to retaining plate.

-- Now connect front harness connector to Engine Control Module (ECM) and engage it.

-- Install plenum chamber bulkhead, refer to Description and Operation .

-- Install wiper arms and plenum chamber cover, refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS .
