Shift Mechanism Overviews: Notes

NOTE:

Note the radio code on vehicles with a coded radio.

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery when working on the shift mechanism inside the engine compartment. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Connect the battery and follow the procedures to be performed after connecting the battery. Refer to Removal and Installation .

When working on the shift mechanism in the engine compartment, remove the complete air filter housing if it is located above the selector mechanism. Refer to one of the following: Diesel engines, refer to [For engine(s) BRM] Description and Operation or Gas engines, refer to [For engine(s) BGP, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA] Description and Operation .

The shift mechanism must be removed in order to replace the operating cables. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM .

Do not bend the operating cables.
