Oil Pressure And Switch, Checking

NOTE:

To check the oil pressure on a Jetta from MY 11, refer to "Guided Fault Finding" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

NOTE:

For information on checking the function and servicing the visual and acoustic oil pressure display, refer to "Guided Fault Finding" ; "Function and Component Selection" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

-- Remove the oil pressure switch -F1- and install it into the oil pressure gauge.

-- Thread the oil pressure gauge into the oil filter bracket in place of the oil pressure switch.

-- Connect the brown wire from the tester to Ground (GND).

-- Connect the voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B using an adapter cable from the connector test set V.A.G 1594 C to B+ and the oil pressure switch.

-- If the LED lights up, replace the oil pressure switch.

If the LED does not light up:

-- Start the engine and increase the engine speed.

-- Increase engine speed further.

If the specification is not obtained:

-- Check he screen in the oil intake pipe for contamination, refer to "Oil Intake Pipe" in item:  22.

NOTE:

Also, mechanical damage, for example, bearing damage can also be the cause of too low oil pressure.

If no malfunction can be found:

-- Replace the oil pump, refer to one of the following:

If the specification is exceeded:

-- Check the oil passages.

-- Replace the oil filter bracket, if necessary.
