Knee Airbag, Golf From My 09

NOTE:

The knee airbag is installed above the pedal cluster.

Removing

WARNING:

Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Switch on ignition.

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BGP, BPY, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation

WARNING:

Electrostatic discharges can lead to unintended deployment of the airbag. Therefore, the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before disconnecting the ignition and ground wiring. This is done, for example, by briefly touching the vehicle body or the door striker pin.

-- Disconnect the connector from the knee airbag.

NOTE:

The connector is at the front on the tunnel side facing the drive direction.

-- Remove the two nuts -1- and -3- (9 Nm).

-- Remove the knee airbag -2- from the bracket -4-.

Installing

-- Install in reverse order of removal.

WARNING:

Make sure that the airbag connector engages audibly!

-- Switch on ignition.

WARNING:

Make sure that no persons are in the vehicle.

-- Connect the battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BGP, BPY, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation
