Left Flange Shaft And Seal

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

-- Remove the wheel.

-- If installed, remove the center and left part of the insulation below the engine/transmission.

-- Remove the left drive axle.

-- Place a drip tray under the transmission.

-- Remove the bolts for the flange shaft, by screwing two bolts into the flange and counter-holding the flange shaft using a pry bar.

-- Remove the flange shaft and the pressure spring.

-- Remove the flange seal using the slide hammer-complete set -VW 771- and additional part for -VW 771- -VW 771/37-.

Installing 

-- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip half way with sealing grease for seal -G 052 128 A1-.

-- Install the seal until seated using the thrust piece -3305-.

-- Install the flange shaft.

-- Fasten the flange shaft with the countersunk bolt and tighten it to 30 Nm.

-- Fasten the ball joint to the control arm to the old marks using new bolts. Refer to Specifications .

-- Fasten the left drive axle to the flange shaft. Refer to Specifications .

-- Install the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER .

-- Install the left wheel. Refer to Specifications .

-- Check the fluid level and fill, if necessary. Refer to TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .

-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to Removal and Installation .
