Selector Shaft Lever Seal, Transmission Removed

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Sleeve -VW 423-
• Pulling Hook -T20143-
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-

-- Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, THROUGH 02.09 .

-- Remove the nut -arrow- and carefully pry the lever -A- off the selector shaft.

-- Pry out the seal.

-- Lightly oil the outer circumference of the new seal.

-- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips half way with sealing grease for seal -G 052 128 A1-.

-- Install the seal all the way in without tilting it.

-- Install the lever and tighten the nut to 20 Nm.

The selector shaft lever fits on the splines in one position only.

-- Install the selector lever cable to the transmission. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, THROUGH 02.09 .
