Selector Lever Cable, Through 02.2009

NOTE:

After installation, the cable must be checked for ease of movement and must be adjusted.

Removing 

-- Place the selector lever in the "S" position.

-- Loosen the adjustment bolt -arrow-.

-- Remove the lock washers -A and B-. They must be replaced later when adjusting the cable.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the heat shield and parts of the exhaust system, as necessary. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .

-- Remove the heat shield.

-- Remove the shift housing bolts beneath the selector lever.

-- Remove the circlip on the cable mounting bracket. Always replace locking washer.

-- At the same time, press the securing tab that is securing the pins forward -arrows-.

-- Remove the bracket lock washer. Always replace the lock washer.

-- Remove the selector lever cable.

Installing 

-- Do not grease the cable.

-- Loosen the cable adjusting screw.

-- Route the selector lever cable without tension and place in the bracket on the transmission.

-- After checking the selector lever cable for ease of movement, secure with lock washers.

-- Secure the cable with pin to the selector lever and to the selector mechanism bracket with a new locking washer.

-- Install the selector housing, heat shield and exhaust system.

-- Check the cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING .
