Right Flange Shaft Seal
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Puller T10037
- Thrust piece T10049
- Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) VAG 1331
- Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) VAG 1332
- Hex extension VAG 1669 or socket and extended bit T10107
Removing
- Transmission is installed.
Follow these instructions exactly to avoid damaging the flange shaft needle bearings.
-- Remove the right drive axle. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BGP, BPY, AWP, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
-- Place a drain pan under the transmission.
-- Remove the right flange shaft bolt using the VAG 1669 or the T10107.
-- Install the T10037 onto the right flange shaft.
-- Align the T10037 parallel to the flange using the T10037/1 and lower support/bolt -A-.
-- Remove the flange shaft.
-- Pry out the sealing ring using the assembly lever.
Installing
-- Fill the area between the sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease G 052 128.
-- Drive the new seal in until seated; be sure not to distort the seal.
-- Carefully install the flange shaft. Rotate the flange shaft at the same time.
-- Tighten the flange shaft countersunk bolt to 30 Nm.
-- Install the right drive axle. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BGP, BPY, AWP, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
-- Install the drive axle heat shield to the bevel box.
-- Check the oil level in the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .
-- Install the noise insulation, if equipped.
