Selector Lever And Mechanism With Cable, From 03.2009

NOTE:

The selector mechanism and the selector lever cable cannot be separated from each other. Both are removed at the same time.

After installation, the selector lever cable movement must be checked and adjusted.

Removing

-- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.

-- Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to SELECTOR HANDLE .

-- Remove the center console. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Disconnect the connector from the selector mechanism.

-- Remove the 4 screws.

Tightening specification: 8 Nm.

-- Disconnect the cable -arrows 1- and then remove it from the cable bracket -arrow 2-.

NOTE:

Do not use pliers because the tabs on the cable bracket could break off.

Do not bend the selector lever cable.

-- Pry the cable -1- off the lever -3- using a open end wrench -2-.

-- Lift the vehicle.

-- Remove the exhaust system components underneath the heat shield. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Remove the heat shield under the selector mechanism.

-- Remove the selector mechanism.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

-- Install the heat shield under the selector mechanism.

-- Install the exhaust system. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable after installing. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
