Work sequence

• Connect VAG1551 / VAG1552 with adaptor cable VAG1551 /3.

After connecting Scan Tool (ST):

Depending upon desired function:

• Turn on ignition.

or

• Start engine Selectable functions, when using Scan Tools (ST) VAG1551 /1552 or VAS5051   , Table "Selectable functions".

• Operate Scan Tool (ST) and note displayed information:

VAG - ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC HELP 1 - Rapid data transfer*

VAG - ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC HELP 2 - Blink code output*

* Appears alternately

• Operate Scan Tool (ST) and note displayed information:
• Press button 1 to select "Rapid data transfer".
• Press buttons 0 and 1 for address word "Engine electronics" and confirm entry with Q button.

Scan Tool (ST) VAG1551 display will show control module identification, e.g.:

038906012FD 1.9l R4 EDC G00AG 1813 → Coding XXXXX WSC XXXXX

• 038906012FD = Part No. for Control Module (always check with parts department for latest part number)
• 1.9 ltr. = Engine displacement
• R4 = Engine type (4 Cyl. in-line engine)
• EDC = Injection system (Electronic Diesel Control)

• G = Equipped with cruise control (No display = Not equipped with cruise control)
• AG = Transmission type: Automatic transmission
• 1813 = ECM software
• Coding xxxxx = Coding control module, Engine Control Module (ECM) J248 codes.

• WSC xxxxx = Dealer number from VAG1551 , of the dealer that last performed coding. (If the factory coding has not been changed, WSC 00000 appears)

• Press → button.
