Valve stem seals, replacing: Removing

(with cylinder head installed)

• Remove camshaft. Refer to Camshaft, removing and installing  .
• Remove hydraulic lifters and place them with contact surface downward. Ensure that lifters will not be interchanged.
• Set piston of respective cylinder to top dead center (TDC).

• Mount assembly tool 2036 and adjust mountings to height of studs.
• Remove valve springs using valve lever VW 541/1A and press tool VW 541/5.

• Pull off valve stem seals with 3047 A.
