Disposing of belt tensioner units

• Belt tensioner unit pyrotechnic ignition charge must be made unusable before scrapping. This is important because pyrotechnic ignition is a pyrotechnic device that can cause injury if activated improperly (for instance when using a cutting torch).
• Belt tensioner units with pyrotechnic ignition charge that have not ignited must be returned in original packaging for proper recycling/disposal in accordance with national legislation! If questions arise, contact Volkswagen of America.
• Belt tensioner units that have ignited can be disposed of as industrial waste.

Use Deployment Fixture J-44210 and refer to Airbag Pyrotechnic Deployment Device Instruction Booklet for proper deployment procedure.
