Side curtain protection (driver and passenger sides) (Jetta), removing and installing: Removing

• Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap → 27 BATTERY, STARTER, GENERATOR, CRUISE CONTROL
• Remove upper A-pillar trims → Upper A-pillar trim, assembly overview (Vehicles with side curtain protection)  .
• Remove upper B-pillar trim

• → 04.01. → Upper B-pillar trim, removing and installing (Vehicles with side curtain protection 04.01)  .
• 05.01. → → Upper B-pillar trim, removing and installing (Vehicles with side curtain protection 05.01 )  .

• Remove upper C-pillar trim → Upper C-pillar trim, removing and installing (Jetta with side curtain protection )  .
• Molded headliner, removing

• Vehicles with sunroof → Molded headliner, removing and installing (Vehicles with sunroof)  .
• Vehicles without sunroof → Molded headliner, removing and installing (Vehicles without sunroof)  .

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for working on airbags → Safety precautions for work on airbags  .

CAUTION: Electrostatic discharges can lead to an unintended deployment of the airbag. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done e.g. by briefly touching the body or the door striker or pin.

• Disconnect harness connector - 5  -.

• Unscrew bolts - 4  - (Qty. 7 (5 Nm)) and pull out side curtain airbag - 1  - downward out of angle brackets (hold catch - 2  - and secure side curtain airbag in angle brackets).

• Pull igniter - 1  - from bracket - 2  -.

• Remove side curtain airbag without bending from vehicle.
