Side curtain protection (driver and passenger sides) (Golf wagon/Jetta wagon), removing and installing: Removing

- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap → 27 BATTERY, STARTER, GENERATOR, CRUISE CONTROL
- Remove upper A-pillar trims → Upper A-pillar trim, assembly overview (Vehicles with side curtain protection) .
- Remove upper B-pillar trim → Upper B-pillar trim, removing and installing (Vehicles with side curtain protection 04.01) .
- Remove upper C-pillar trims → Upper C-pillar trim, removing and installing (Golf wagon/Jetta wagon with side curtain protection 04.01) .
- Removing D-pillar trim → Upper D-pillar trim, removing and installing (Golf wagon/Jetta wagon) .
- Molded headliner, removing
- With sunroof → Molded headliner, removing and installing (Vehicles with sunroof) .
- Without sunroof → Molded headliner, removing and installing (Vehicles without sunroof) .

CAUTION:
Electrostatic discharges can lead to an unintended deployment of the airbag. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done e.g. by briefly touching the body or the door striker or pin.
- Disconnect harness connector - 3 -.
- Unscrew bolts - 4 - (Qty. 7 (5 Nm)) and pull out side curtain airbag downward out of angle brackets (hold catch - 2 - and secure side curtain airbag in angle brackets).

- Remove side curtain airbag without bending from vehicle.
