Front Passengers airbag unit (Instrument panel without airbag seam), removing and installing: Removing

- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap → 27 BATTERY, STARTER, GENERATOR, CRUISE CONTROL
- Remove center console → Center console, removing and installing .
- Remove glove compartment → Glove compartment, removing and installing .
CAUTION:

- Unscrew four bolts - 5 - (2.5 Nm).
- Push out airbag unit - 1 - with two supports - 4 - upward out of angle brackets on central tube - 3 -.
- Press airbag unit - 1 - aside and lower until harness connector - 2 - is accessible.
CAUTION:
Electrostatic discharges can lead to an unintended deployment of the airbag. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done e.g. by briefly touching the body or the door striker or pin.
- Disconnect harness connector - 2 - and remove airbag unit - 1 - downward.
