Oil Cooler

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) V.A.G 1331
Drip Tray for VAS 6100 VAS 6208 or V.A.G 1306

Removing

WARNING:

Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant:

The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent damage to eyes and scalding.
Reduce pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the accessory bracket. Refer to ACCESSORY BRACKET .

-- Remove the bolts -4 and 5- and remove the oil cooler -3- together with the seal -2-.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to OIL FILTER, OIL COOLER AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCH OVERVIEW .

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

Always replace gaskets and seals.
Install only approved clamps for securing hose connections.

-- Install the oil cooler -3- with a new seal -2-.
