Clutch Pedal: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Pliers T10005
• Assembly Tool T10178

Removing 

-- Move the driver seat all the way back and raise the steering wheel to the highest position.

-- Remove the trim and the cover under the trim on the driver side. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the wire guide -2- from the steering column.

-- Remove the footwell vent -3-. Refer to Removal and Installation .

There are different ways of securing the impact bolster support -1- in front of the clutch pedal -2-.

Securing with Two Bolts: 

-- Remove the impact bolster support bolts and support -1-.

Securing with One Bolt:

-- Remove the impact bolster support bolt -2- and support -2-.

-- Remove the sound absorber -arrow- from the bracket/clutch pedal, if equipped.

-- Remove the retainers -A-.

-- Remove the sound absorber.

-- Push the sound absorber near the upper nut -1- above the clutch pedal -A- in the -direction of the arrow-.

-- Remove the nut -2- and the bolt -5- and then remove the clutch pedal -1- from the bracket -3-.

-- Move the clutch pedal forward and remove the over-center spring -4-.

-- Release the clutch pedal from the master cylinder using the pliers T10005.

-- Remove the clutch pedal.

Installing 

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:

-- Install the mount -2- on the clutch master cylinder actuator rod -1-.

-- Press the mount in until it engages audibly in the notch on the clutch pedal -3-.

-- Install the over-center spring -2- into the bracket from the top and hold the end of the spring in its installed position using the assembly tool T10178.

• The mounting area -arrow- for the clutch pedal pivot pin -A- must be positioned vertically.

-- Insert the clutch pedal pivot pin -A- into the mounting area of the over-center spring.

-- Press the clutch pedal slightly, push the bolt through and tighten the self-locking nut to specification. Refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Some vehicles have a sound absorber -arrow- over the bracket/clutch pedal.

-- Bring the sound absorber back into the installed position.

There are different ways of securing the impact bolster support -1- in front of the clutch pedal -2-.

Securing with Two Bolts:

-- Install the impact bolster support -1- and tighten the 2 bolts to specification. Refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Securing with One Bolt:

-- Install the impact bolster support -1- and tighten the bolt -2- to specification. Refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the wire guide -2- to the steering column.

-- Install the footwell vent -3-. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the trim and the cover under the trim on the driver side. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Connect the battery and follow the steps for after connecting the battery. Refer to Removal and Installation .
