Clutch System, Bleeding

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit VAS 5234 or V.A.G 1869

NOTE:

It is not necessary to pre-fill the system.

For the correct brake fluid specification, refer to "Brake System, Bleeding with Brake Filler/Bleeder Unit VAS 5234 or VAG 1869" in General Information .

-- Remove the air filter housing if it is located near the battery. Refer to one of the following:

Gas engines, refer to [For engine(s) BPY] ENGINE COVER/UPPER AIR FILTER HOUSING or [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Connect the brake charger/bleeder unit VAS 5234 or V.A.G 1869.

-- Connect the bleeder hose (670 mm) V.A.G 1238/B3 to the brake bleeder unit collector bottle.

-- Connect the bleeder hose -A- to the breather -arrow-.

-- Apply 2 bar pressure to the system.

-- Open the breather valve approximately 1/4 turn.

-- Move the clutch pedal 15 to 20 times rapidly by hand from stop to stop.

-- Close the breather valve and turn the bleeder device off.

-- After completing the bleeding procedure, and the pressure has dropped from 2 bar, operate the clutch pedal an additional 10 times by foot.

-- Install the air filter housing, if it was removed earlier. Refer to one of the following:

Gas engines, refer to [For engine(s) BPY] ENGINE COVER/UPPER AIR FILTER HOUSING or [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] AIR FILTER HOUSING .
