Instrument cluster, replacing
The procedure "Replacing instrument cluster" includes the following:
- Should a new instrument cluster be installed in the vehicle, it must be coded in accordance with the market version and vehicle equipment.
- In order to adapt integrated anti-theft immobilizer functions to the Engine Control Module (ECM), data from ECM must be stored in the replacement instrument cluster.
- Also, an adaptation of all vehicle keys must be performed after installing a new instrument cluster.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052
- Diagnostic cable VAS 5051/6A (or length appropriate alternative)
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052 → VAS 5051 / 5052 under Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 / 5052, onnecting
- Select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding"
- Enter information as prompted and press ">" to confirm.
After the DTC memory of all control modules has been checked:
- Use "Go to" button to select "Function / Component Selection"
- Select "Body (Repair Group 01; 27; 50-97)"
- Select "Electrical system int/ext (Repair Group 01; 27; 90-97)"
- Select "01 - Self-diagnosis"
- Select "Instrument cluster"
- Select "Functions"
- Select "Adapting / replacing instrument cluster"
- Press ">" to confirm.
- Follow tester prompts
