Instrument cluster, replacing

The procedure "Replacing instrument cluster" includes the following:

• Should a new instrument cluster be installed in the vehicle, it must be coded in accordance with the market version and vehicle equipment.
• In order to adapt integrated anti-theft immobilizer functions to the Engine Control Module (ECM), data from ECM must be stored in the replacement instrument cluster.
• Also, an adaptation of all vehicle keys must be performed after installing a new instrument cluster.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052

• Diagnostic cable VAS 5051/6A (or length appropriate alternative)

• Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052 → VAS 5051 / 5052  under Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 / 5052, onnecting 
• Select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding"
• Enter information as prompted and press ">" to confirm.

After the DTC memory of all control modules has been checked:

• Use "Go to" button to select "Function / Component Selection"
• Select "Body (Repair Group 01; 27; 50-97)"
• Select "Electrical system int/ext (Repair Group 01; 27; 90-97)"
• Select "01 - Self-diagnosis"

• Select "Instrument cluster"
• Select "Functions"
• Select "Adapting / replacing instrument cluster"
• Press ">" to confirm.

• Follow tester prompts
