Electrolyte level, checking

Checking electrolyte level from battery housing:

Check electrolyte level according to - min.- / max - markings on battery housing.

Electrolyte level is OK when aligned with max.-marking.

If electrolyte level is below - max. - marking:

Fill with distilled water.

Check electrolyte level in cells:

CAUTION:

Switch off all electrical consumers.
Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

NOTE:

Foil with warnings must remain on battery.

Remove cell caps.
Check electrolyte level in battery cells.

Electrolyte level must align with the internal electrolyte level indicator - 1 -. This equates to the external "maximum" marking on the battery case/housing.

If electrolyte level is OK:

Check cell caps and O-ring seals for damage. Damaged parts must be replaced.
Seal cells with cell caps.

If electrolyte level is below internal electrolyte indicator:

Fill with distilled water.
