Distilled water, filling
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Battery fill bottle VAS 5045
CAUTION:
- Only use distilled water to top-up batteries. This prevents electrolyte impurities which cause self-discharging.
- DO NOT overfill the battery
- To fill battery, use battery filler bottle VAS 5045 exclusively. The construction of the filling tube prevents cells from being over-filled
- Use of genuine VW battery cell caps ensures the different battery cover systems are sealed correctly. Only use genuine cell caps of the same construction if lost or damaged. All cell caps must be equipped with an O-ring seal.
- Check electrolyte level of battery.
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
NOTE:
- Foil with warnings must remain on the battery.
- Remove cell caps.
- Add distilled water using battery filler bottle VAS 5045. When maximum filling level has been reach, the inflow is stopped automatically.
- Check cell caps and O-ring seals for damage. Damaged parts must be replaced.
- Seal cells with cell caps.
- Check no-load voltage → No load voltage, checking .
- Perform battery test.
