Safety Precautions
CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Where applicable, obtain the Anti-Theft radio security code.
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect battery.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks as specified in → 27 - STARTER, GENERATOR, CRUISE CONTROL
- Not adhering to proper disconnection sequence on vehicles equipped with Main Battery Switch E74 will result in the deactivation of, and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
CAUTION:
- Airbag and safety belt tensioner harness and connector repairs must only be performed using VAS 1978 Wiring Harness Repair Kit VAS 1978 Instruction Manual.
- Airbag and safety belt tensioner harness and connector repairs must only be performed using applicable wires, connectors and terminals Parts Catalog.
