Wheel alignment: General: Notes

Wheel alignment on the vehicle should only be measured with alignment equipment approved by VW/AUDI.

When measuring, the front and rear axles must be measured every time.

Otherwise correct vehicle performance is not guaranteed and an off center steering wheel may exist.

NOTE:
  • Do not carry out wheel alignment until the vehicle has been driven 1000 to 2000 km, because the coil springs will not have settled until then.
  • The individual specifications should be followed as exactly as possible when making adjustments.

If the installed position of the rear axle and thereby the direction of travel of the vehicle are not considered, a crooked steering wheel may result.

Vehicles with Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

If the steering wheel will be removed from the vehicle, the basic setting for the steering angle sensor must be checked! → Perform basic setting in "Guided fault finding" with the VAS 5051..

Steering columns supplied as a spare part do not have a center punch mark.

After wheel alignment and following test drive the steering column must be marked.
