Engine And Transmission Mount Overview

WARNING:
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:
- Route all lines and wires in their original locations.
- For example, fuel, hydraulic, Evaporative Emission (EVAP), coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum lines.
- Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
- Bolt
Tightening specifications, refer to one of the following:
- Vehicles with manual transmission, refer to [For transmission(s) 02Q] Specifications .
- Vehicles with a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG®), refer to [For transmission(s) 02E] Specifications .
- For the transmission mount bracket to the transmission.
- Bolt
- 50 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the pendulum support to the transmission.
- Engine Mount Bracket
- Removing and installing, refer to ENGINE MOUNT AND BRACKET .
- Bolt
- 40 Nm + an additional 180° (1/2) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the engine mount bracket to the cylinder block.
- Observe the tightening sequence, refer to Fig 2.
- Engine Mount

- 40 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the engine mount to the body.
- Bracket
- Bolt
- 20 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the bracket to the body.
- Bolt
- 20 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the bracket to the engine mount.
- Bolt
- 40 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the engine mount to the body.
- Bolt
- 60 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the engine mount to the engine mount bracket.
- Pendulum Support
- Bolt
- 100 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the pendulum support to the subframe.
- Bolt
- 60 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the transmission mount to the transmission mount bracket.
- Bolt
- 40 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace.
- For the transmission mount to the body.
- Transmission Mount
- The illustration shows the DSG® version.
- Bolt
Tightening specifications, refer to one of the following:

CAUTION:
Always use the correct tightening sequence and specifications for the engine mount bracket bolts. Otherwise tension could develop in the engine bracket and break it.
-- First, tighten the bolts by hand in sequence -1 through 3-.
-- Then, tighten the bolts in that sequence to specification, see -item 4- in the overview.
