Master cylinder, removing and installing: Removing

• Remove intake hose -1- , connector -2- and hose -3- from mass air flow sensor.
• Remove complete air cleaner housing by unscrewing bolts -4- and -5-.

Refer to 24 MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) for 1.8 LITER 4-CYL. 5V TURBO FUEL INJECTION & IGNITION, ENGINE CODE(S): AWD, 24 MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) for 1.8 LITER 4-CYL. 5V TURBO FUEL INJECTION IGNITION, ENGINE CODE(S): AWW, AWP, 24 MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) for 2.0 LITER 4-CYL. 2V ENGINE MECHANICAL, FUEL INJECTION & IGNITION, ENGINE CODE(S): AEG, AVH, AZG, BBW, BEV, 24 MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) for 2.8 LITER VR6 2V FUEL INJECTION IGNITION, 24 MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) for 2.8 LITER VR6 4V FUEL INJECTION IGNITION and 24 - MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) for 3.2 LITER VR6 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, FUEL INJECTION IGNITION, ENGINE CODE(S): BJS

• Pull off supply hose -A- to brake fluid reservoir and seal.

• Pry clip -B- for line/hose assembly out of master cylinder (direction of arrow).
• Pull line/hose assembly -C- out of master cylinder and seal.
• Remove driver's side lower cover

Remove complete clutch pedal mounting bracket as follows:

• Remove connecting plate -A- first (arrows -1-).
• Remove securing nuts (arrows -2-) for mounting bracket -B-.
• Take off mounting bracket.

Separate master cylinder operating rod from clutch pedal as follows:

• Insert release tool 3309 in clutch pedal cut-outs (arrow -A-). Inscription "top/oben" (-B-) points away from clutch pedal.
• With pliers 10-208A positioned in recesses (arrow- C-), press release tool together.

• Turn stop -A- for clutch pedal in direction of arrow and remove.

• Push slave cylinder in direction of arrow -1- onto stop.

Slave cylinder must not be covered in upper area by over-center spring mounting (arrow -2-).

• Swing slave cylinder in direction of arrow -3- out of mounting bracket.
