Radiator, removing and installing: Notes

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drip tray V.A.G 1306
Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
Hose clip pliers V.A.G 1921
Anti-freeze protection tester

Removing

Drain coolant. Refer to Cooling system, draining and filling .
Remove front bumper: Refer to 50 BODY, FRONT
Remove coolant hoses from radiator.
Remove connectors from thermal switch and radiator fan.

Bring lock carrier into service position: Refer to 50 BODY, FRONT
Remove bolts from radiator and remove radiator with fans downward.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Fill with coolant. Refer to Cooling system, draining and filling .
