Work sequence
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 15 other vehicles, including the 2006 Volkswagen Golf, 2005 Volkswagen Jetta, 2005 Volkswagen Golf, 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2004 Volkswagen Golf. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect fuel shut-off valve connector at injection pump.
- Separate quantity adjuster connection from injection pump.
- Remove all glow plugs using hinged socket 3220.
- Install adapter V.A.G 1381/12 in place of glow plugs.
- Check compression pressure using compression tester V.A.G 1763.
NOTE:
- Using tester. Refer to Operating instructions.
- Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression pressure:
New: 25 to 31 bar; Wear limit: 19 bar pressure
Permissible difference between all cylinders: 5 bar
- Install glow plugs using hinged socket 3220 tightening torque: 15 Nm.
- Check DTC Memory: Refer to 01 ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) from M.Y. 99-01 or 01 ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) from M.Y. 2002 and on
NOTE:
- DTCs will be stored because the Diesel injection pump harness connector has been disconnected. Check and erase the DTC memory.
