Work sequence

Disconnect fuel shut-off valve connector at injection pump.
Separate quantity adjuster connection from injection pump.
Remove all glow plugs using hinged socket 3220.

Install adapter V.A.G 1381/12 in place of glow plugs.
Check compression pressure using compression tester V.A.G 1763.

NOTE:

Using tester. Refer to Operating instructions.

Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.

Compression pressure:

New: 25 to 31 bar; Wear limit: 19 bar pressure

Permissible difference between all cylinders: 5 bar

Install glow plugs using hinged socket 3220 tightening torque: 15 Nm.
Check DTC Memory: Refer to 01 ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) from M.Y. 99-01 or 01 ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) from M.Y. 2002 and on

NOTE:

DTCs will be stored because the Diesel injection pump harness connector has been disconnected. Check and erase the DTC memory.
