Electrical testing: Requirements

- Battery Positive Voltage (B+) OK
- Fuse 18 (S18) OK
- Ground (GND) connections on engine and transmission OK (location of engine Ground (GND) connection: below lower part of intake manifold)
- Fuel Pump (G6) and Fuel Pump Relay (J17) OK
- Disconnect connector -1- from Motronic Engine Control Module -2- (J220) with ignition off (location of control module: in right plenum).
- Connect VAG 1598/18 to Motronic Engine Control Module harness connector.
- Perform test according to the table. See REQUIREMENTS .
CAUTION:
Switch multimeter to the appropriate measuring range before connecting the test leads to avoid damaging the electronic components.
NOTE:
After electrical testing on vehicles with automatic transmission, the DTC "Engine/Trans. Electrical Connection: disconnected" stored by the test must be erased. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, ERASING (FUNCTION 05)
