Installing Pistons With Special Tool 3278

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, 1999 Volkswagen GTI, 1998 Volkswagen Jetta, 1998 Volkswagen GTI, and 1997 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
  • If a new tool 3278 is being used to install the pistons, first pass a piston with oiled piston rings through the tool, away from the engine.
  • Repeat this a second time, then if necessary remove the resulting metal shavings.
  • Only then install piston with piston rings in the cylinder block.
