Checking function

- Turn on ignition:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) must illuminate until engine has started. (Glow plug indicator lamp also illuminates during glow period when engine is cold)
If MIL does not illuminate with ignition on:
- Check MIL lamp wiring / MIL lamp bulb using wiring diagram.
If OK:
- Check instrument cluster / ECM, and replace if necessary.
- Check DTC memory, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and then erase DTC memory → Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking and erasing .
- Display readiness code → Readiness code, displaying . If DTC memory has been erased, reset readiness code → Readiness code, setting .
If Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K83 lights-up with ignition on, continue as follows:
- Start engine and let idle
- MIL lamp must go out after a few seconds.
If MIL lamp does not go out:
- Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and erase DTC memory → Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking and erasing .
If no DTC is stored:
- Check MIL lamp wiring using wiring diagram.
If OK:
- Check instrument cluster / ECM, and replace if necessary.
- Check DTC memory, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and then erase DTC memory → Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking and erasing .
- Display readiness code → Readiness code, displaying . If DTC memory has been erased, readiness code must be reset → Readiness code, setting .
