Work sequence

Remove right sound damping tray: Refer to NOISE INSULATION (GASOLINE ENGINES), ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW or NOISE INSULATION (DIESEL ENGINES), ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW
Remove valve cover, refer to Cylinder head cover, removing and installing .

Using mounting bolt for vibration damper, align crankshaft with TDC cyl. 1 position - arrow - by turning in direction of rotation of engine.

If TDC cyl. 1 position is correct, it will be possible to see a slot - arrow - on the sprockets of the intermediate shaft.

NOTE:

This condition is only reached in every second TDC position.

If the groove cannot be seen:

Turn crankshaft one turn further in direction of rotation of engine.

It must be possible to insert camshaft guide 3268 into both shaft slots.
