Clutch System, Bleeding
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit VAS 5234 or V.A.G 1869
It is not necessary to pre-fill the system.
For the correct brake fluid specification, refer to General Information .
Perform The Following Procedure:
-- Remove the air filter housing if the bleed valve -arrow- is not accessible. Refer to one of the following:
Diesel engines, refer to [For engine(s) BRM] Description and Operation .
Gas engines, refer to [For engine(s) BGP, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA] Description and Operation .
-- Connect the VAS 5234 or the V.A.G 1869.
Use the bleeder hose (670 mm) V.A.G 1238/B3.
-- Connect the hose to the brake bleeder unit collector bottle.
-- Attach the hose to the bleed valve -arrow-.
-- Apply 2 bar pressure to the system.
-- Open the bleed valve.
-- Let approximately 100 cm3 of brake fluid flow out.
-- Close the bleed valve.
-- Press the clutch pedal rapidly from stop to stop, 10 to 15 times.
-- Open the bleed valve again.
-- Let another 50 cm3 of brake fluid flow out.
-- Close the bleed valve.
-- Press the clutch pedal a few times after bleeding the system.
-- If removed, install the air filter housing. Refer to one of the following:

Gas engines, refer to [For engine(s) BGP, BGQ, CBTA, CBUA] Description and Operation .
