Modified tie rod ball joints

The manufacturing process for tie rod ball joints has been optimized. This has resulted in changes to the external shape and length of the internally threaded shaft.

It was necessary to modify the tie rods to match the tie rod ball joints, → Modified tie rods  .

Was introduced in the Wolfsburg factory from;

in the Mosel plant from;

in the Bratislava plant from;

in the Brussels plant from; 1J WB 062 360

The modified tie rod ball joints can be recognized by the following features.

A - Right-hand tie rod ball joint 

1 - Hex on internally threaded shaft, wrench size 19 mm

B - Left-hand tie rod ball joint 

1 - Hex on internally threaded shaft, wrench size 19 mm

Identifying features for the previous tie rod ball joint 

1 - Flats for wrench on the shaft, marked with - - or - -

CAUTION: This tie rod ball joint must not be Installed to a tie rod which has a length of - - = 318.9 mm!
