Initiating On Board Diagnostic (OBD)

Test prerequisites:

NOTE: Additional operating information can be printed out depending on the program by pressing the "HELP" button on the VAG 1551. The "PRINT" button is used for switching on the printer (warning lamp in button lights up).
NOTE: The right arrow button is used for advancing the program sequence.
  1. Connect scan tool. See Fig 1 .
  2. Switch ignition on, with engine off.
  3. Switch on printer with "PRINT" button (warning lamp in button lights up).
  4. Press button "1" for "Rapid data transfer" mode.
  5. Address word for the convenience system is 46. Press buttons "4" and "6."
  6. Confirm entry with the "Q" button.
    NOTE: The control module identification number of the central control module for comfort system (J393), convenience center control unit, will be shown on the VAG 1551 scan tool display. At this point the program can be advanced with the "C" button to the option "Rapid data transfer, select function."
  7. Press right arrow button. The control module identification of the driver's door control module will be shown on the VAG 1551 scan display.
  8. Press right arrow button. The control module identification of the passenger's door control module will be shown on the VAG 1551 scan tool display.
  9. Press right arrow button. The control module identification of the rear left door control module will be shown on the VAG 1551 scan tool display.
  10. Press right arrow button. The control module identification of the rear right door control module will be shown on the VAG scan tool display.
  11. Press right arrow button.
  12. Now it is possible to choose one of the selectable functions:
    NOTE: A list of possible functions is printed out after pressing the "HELP" button. After the function is completed the VAG 1551 returns to this start position.
