Radiator And Cooling Fan, Removing And Installing: Removing

- Drain coolant. Refer to Draining .
- Disconnect connectors from thermal switch -1- and coolant fan -2-.
- Remove front bumper:
Refer to removing and installing in FRONT BUMPER
- Bring lock carrier into service position:
Refer to LOCK CARRIER SERVICE POSITION
- Pull coolant hoses quick release couplings off radiator.
- Remove securing screws for headlight and disconnect connections
Refer to HEADLIGHTS - GOLF or HEADLIGHTS - JETTA
Vehicles with air conditioning
- Observe additional information and removal work. Refer to Additional information and assembly work on models with air conditioning .
- Remove four bolts for air conditioning condenser.
- Remove bolt (arrow) on left of radiator for condenser bracket.
Continued for all models
- Remove radiator securing bolts and take radiator with fan out downward.
Installing
Installation is performed in reverse order to removal, considering the following:
Electrical connections and routing:

- Fill with coolant. Refer to Filling .
