Radiator And Cooling Fan, Removing And Installing: Removing

Drain coolant. Refer to Draining .

Disconnect connectors from thermal switch -1- and coolant fan -2-.
Remove front bumper:

Refer to removing and installing in FRONT BUMPER

Bring lock carrier into service position:

Refer to LOCK CARRIER SERVICE POSITION

Pull coolant hoses quick release couplings off radiator.
Remove securing screws for headlight and disconnect connections

Refer to HEADLIGHTS - GOLF or HEADLIGHTS - JETTA

Vehicles with air conditioning

Observe additional information and removal work. Refer to Additional information and assembly work on models with air conditioning .

Remove four bolts for air conditioning condenser.

Remove bolt (arrow) on left of radiator for condenser bracket.

Remove radiator securing bolts and take radiator with fan out downward.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order to removal, considering the following:

Electrical connections and routing:

Refer to Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations

Fill with coolant. Refer to Filling .
