Sealing flanges and flywheel/drive plate, removing and installing : Notes

NOTE:
Servicing clutch:
Refer to CLUTCH, SERVICING for 5 spd. manual transmission 02J or CLUTCH, SERVICING for 6 spd. manual transmission 02Y all wheel drive
1 - 90 Nm plus 1/4 turn (90 ° )
- Always replace
- Threads and shoulder must be free of oil and grease
- Use counterhold tool 3415 to loosen and tighten
2 - Crankshaft toothed belt sprocket
3 - 15 Nm
4 - Seal
PTFE seals:
- Do not add oil or grease to the oil seal sealing lip.
Coil spring seals:
- Lightly oil or grease the oil seal sealing lip.
Differences between PTFE seals and coil spring seals. Refer to Crankshaft oil seal - belt pulley end, replacing , Fig. 10
- Replace. Refer to Crankshaft oil seal - belt pulley end, replacing
5 - Sealing flange
- Remove oil pan to remove and install
- Must be located on dowel sleeves
- Insert with silicone sealant D 176 404 A2
- Removing and installing. Refer to Front sealing flange, removing and installing
6 - Cylinder block
- Removing and installing crankshaft. Refer to Crankshaft, removing and installing
- Disassembling and assembling piston and connecting rod. Refer to Piston and connecting rod, disassembling and assembling
7 - 60 Nm plus 1/4 turn (90 ° )
- Always replace
8 - Flywheel/drive plate
- To remove and install flywheel counter-hold with 3067
- Removing and installing drive plate. Refer to Drive plate, removing and installing
9 - Intermediate plate
- Must be located on dowel sleeves, refer to Crankshaft oil seal - belt pulley end, replacing
- Do not damage/bend when assembling
10 - Sealing flange with oil seal
- Only replace complete
- Use protective sleeve supplied when installing
- Remove oil pan to remove and install
- Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.
- Do not add oil or grease to the oil seal sealing lip
- Remove protective sleeve first after sealing flange has been slid onto crankshaft journal
PTFE seals:
- Do not add oil or grease to the oil seal sealing lip.
Coil spring seals:
- Lightly oil or grease the oil seal sealing lip.

Difference between PTFE and coil spring oil seals
NOTE:
- The oils seals for the sealing flange are shown individually for a clearer illustration. Replace all sealing flange seals when replacing sealing flange.
