Lower Oil Pan

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, 2009 Volkswagen Jetta, 2008 Volkswagen Jetta, 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- Drain the engine oil.

NOTE:

Observe disposal regulations!

-- Remove the oil pan bolts.

-- Pry off the lower oil pan at the lift out pockets provided -arrows- on the upper oil pan. Be careful not to damage the sealing surfaces in the process.

-- Replace the damaged lower oil pan.

Installing 

WARNING:

To prevent injuries from shavings, wear protective goggles and protective clothing.

-- Remove the remainder of sealant from the upper and lower oil pans, for example, using a rotating plastic brush.

CAUTION:

Make sure that no sealant residue enters the engine.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces so they are completely free of any oil or grease.

-- Cut the sealant tube nozzle at the front mark (nozzle diameter: approximately 1 mm).

Note the shelf life date.

NOTE:

The lower oil pan must be installed within 5 minutes after application of the sealant.

-- With the engine removed, apply the sealant bead -A- as shown onto the clean sealing surface of the upper oil pan.

NOTE:

With the engine installed, apply the sealant in the same manner, but onto the lower oil pan.

The sealant bead must be routed on the inside of the bolt holes.

-- Install all the bolts and tighten them in a diagonal sequence.

The rest of the installation follows the reverse of the removal procedures. When doing this note the following:
